A BIOGRAPHY OF ME

I am Elvis Obi, a product designer from Nigeria and co-founder of Mazerance. I design interfaces people actually finish using: onboarding that does not lose them, flows that hold attention, and the small game-like moments that make a dull screen worth coming back to. Figma showed my work at Config in 2022. Since then I have designed for banks, schools and young companies who wanted the same thing — fewer confused users, more of them staying. Want the rest? PROCESS

Every project runs in the same order, because the order is what keeps it honest. I learn the business before I open Figma, and I put the thing in front of real people long before I call it finished. What follows is the two halves of that work, in the order in which they happen.

First I find out what the product is actually for. Who opens it, what they are trying to finish, and the exact point where they give up. I read the support tickets and I watch people use it. Guessing is expensive later on.

Then I design it in the open. Rough shapes first, so that we argue about the structure instead of the colour, then the real thing in Figma, or built in Framer where that is quicker. You see it every week, not at the end.

I am not only a designer, I am a fan of places — of old cities, of long walks, and of the kind of architecture that stops you mid-sentence. Most of what I know about composition I learned from looking up at buildings rather than down at screens.
